(male announcer) live from the bay area here is your kron 4 news >> we have the latest out of boston and maryland because there is a connection now. one suspect was killed overnight in a shootout, the older brother. the under brother is still on the list this morning. we heard earlier from one of the uncles of the suspects and he said he had no idea that the two were involved in the marathon bombings. we live aerial pictures and maryland over head of a possible uncle in this case. >> hundreds of thousands of people here in watertown massachusetts are being told to stay inside their homes and keep their doors locked as a massive manhunt is underway for a suspect authorities are calling

their is connected to the bombings in boston on monday. boston is on edge this morning after a night of violence and chaos. police responded to the cambridge campus campus of mit thursday evening were an officer was shot and killed. the area was shut down in the community want to stay away. that was just the beginning. action sprung up in the nearby community of water time were and alleged carjacking may have involved explosives. gunfire was exchanged in one officer was shot. >> and the exchange of gunfire we believe that one of the suspects was struck and ultimately taken into custody. the second suspect was able to flee from that car. the district attorney's said the the first suspect has died and they're looking for a man that matches the description of the second suspect. he is wanted by the fbi for the suspicio.

a place to explain everything at the last 12 hours. >> around 1030 last evening it robbery took place at 711 in cambridge. some point after that and mit police officer was shot on campus and has expired as a result of his wounds. there was a carjacking that took place as well, and cambridge and balding a mercedes s u b. that car was ultimately discovered here in watertown pursued by the watertown police department. the pursuit when it's their runs residential neighborhood not far from here. there is an exchange of gunfire between watertown police and bta police officers and two suspects in this as you be. during the course of that pursuit, settled explosive devices were discharged from the car at the police officers. and the exchange

another. mike pelton is live at the scene with the latest. >> this is a deputies car that was involved in this incident. even see the front and sustained quite a bit of damage. officers above the chp and the alameda county's it sheriff's offices are processing the scene. they're trying to figure out exactly what happened. this all began earlier this morning. kron430 a.m. a sheriff's deputy with nine years' experience was driving north on here on mission boulevard following up on a report of a stolen car. he was not actively involved in the pursuit, it is just what brought him to this area. that is when they say he struck and killed the man who is either in the crosswalk or around the crosswalk. a woman with him was taken to hospital but it is unclear whether not she was struck or what type of injuries she is suffering from. and all of this, neighbors are living in this area rushed outside to

involving a mercedes s u v. that car was alternately discovered here in watertown and pursued by the watertown police department. the pursuit into a residential neighborhood not far from here where there was an exchange of gunfire between watertown police mbta police officers and two suspects in the s u v. >> during the course of the pursued several explosive devices were discharged from the car at the police officers. in the exchange of gunfire we believe one of the suspects was struck and ultimately taken into custody a second suspect was able to flee from the car and an active search is going on at this point in time. >> mbta officer was struck in the exchange of gunfire and is currently at the auburn hospital in critical condition. there is an active search by a tactical
